Smith Family - Photos by Meg - Hawaii Family Photographer

Sometimes chancing the rain doesn't work out but this family was willing to drive an hour with rain clouds overhead even driving through the rain in a couple spots.  So happy that it held out for us and the cloud bank was gorgeous with the sunset behind it.  One of my favorite locations for sure!!

Collier Couple - Photos by Meg Couple's photographer - Hawaii

When we moved off base in June I thought we were just looking for a change and to downsize.  Little did I know that this amazing couple would be living next door.  We became quick friends.  They are so kind and fun to be around.  When they asked me to do a couples shoot for them I jumped at the opportunity.  They are so in love and you can see it written all over their faces.  I'm so glad they trusted me and followed me up the mountain to this amazing location.  Even though we missed sunrise because I took a wrong turn and went up a different trail. Whoops.  Still the lighting was stunning and they were still smiling at the top.  I had Evelyn take a quick photo of me up there too as I was 9 months pregnant at the time.

How do I end up with such amazing clients?  These guys were so much fun.  Had me cracking up their whole session.  I't didn't feel like work at all.

All the ❤️ for this perfect little man and his sailboat newborn beach session.  It was a journey for sure trying to find the perfect sailboat at many many stores.  I'm so happy that I came across this wooden bowl.  I knew it was perfect when I saw it and had to make a sail to go with it.  This newborn session is a mix of typical hawaiian beach beauty and a little forrest look as well.  Let me know what you think!

I LOVE when clients have ideas that push me creatively.  They didn't want the beach look for these photos.  Lots of green and mountains were the criteria and a little boho style.  What's your ideal location/style?

Newborn + pineapple = LOVE.  Photographing newborns is so rewarding.  Time consuming..yes, but so worth it.  I first met this family when they were looking for a maternity photographer and now getting to meet their little princess makes me so happy.

This family was so gorgeous!  This little guy's bowtie is so stinking cute, not to mention the baby butt and pineapple.  I love how one location can have so many different looks.  It's so important to shoot from many different angles, going in close and backing up to get the wide shot.  It really adds character to the clients gallery.  Enjoy all the cuteness!!

Romy senior | photos by meg hawaii high school senior photographer

This beautiful senior has a very interesting story. Raised in Alaska but part Hawaiian she wanted to incorporate some Hawaiian props in her senior shoot. One was her ipu which is a musical instrument made from a hollowed gourd. She made this one herself while visiting for a camp when she was younger.  Also, the white dress she's wearing is Hawaiian muumuu dress.  And.....how cool is the name Romy?!  I love it!  She was such a pleasure to photograph!

Twins!!!!! Every newborn photographer's favorite word to here in a session inquiry.  These two were amazing!  They slept almost the whole time and were much more content when they were snuggled in close to each other as you can imagine.  We shot for a couple hours in home and because they lived only a couple minutes from the beach we continued the fun there with big sister.

Rachel and Clint Wedding | photos by Meg Hawaii wedding photographer

Two hearts coming together in a beautiful wedding!  They had such a warm and loving group of friends and family there to witness and celebrate their special day.  So many different backdrops to photograph them in ... a photographers dream.  And of course it would be a true Hawaiian wedding without at least one rainbow appearance. Meet Rachel and Clint!

Aubrey one year cake smash | Photos by Meg Hawaii children photographer

Best cake smash yet! This little princess LOVED her cake. It helps that mom made it from scratch with delicious strawberry icing. I'd say about 90% of cake smash sessions end with baby crying and wanting nothing to do with their cake. Lol As soon as she tasted her yummy cake she dug in. Cuteness overload!

baby Eliana newborn beach session | Photos by Meg Hawaii newborn photographer

A baby, a pineapple and a beautiful beach.  I can't tell you how much I love photographing those tiny toes, fingers and well just about everything in this fleeting moment of time. They grow so fast the first few months of life that it's easy to forget how tiny they once were. It's crazy looking back at pictures of my girls when they were babies. Saying things like "look how chubby your cheeks were" or "oh my, love that smile". I'm so thankful for having photos from those days to look back on.

Grover family | photos by meg Hawaii family and children photographer

Where do I start? Look at those eyes! Can you see the little starbursts? I first met this family when this little guy was only a few days old. My first shoot on island. His mom and dad were beaming with pride walking into my tiny makeshift studio I had in my home at the time.

At six months old his daddy, Matt was diagnosed with cancer and this little family's world was turned upside down. Unfortunately, after a courageous 10 months of fighting he lost the battle last November. A couple months later I get a message from Alison, his wife asking if I would do a photoshoot with them in Matt's memory with his flag and picture. Later we met up at Starbucks over tea and a scone, which this little guy helped me devour, Alison told me about the past year's ups and downs.

One thing that will be etched in my mind forever is her smile and optimism. After suffering such a tragic loss I'd hope to have only half her grace. She told me that no matter the amount of pain Matt was in he was ALWAYS positive and ready to spend time with his beautiful family and that was her motivation. Thank you Alison for sharing your story and allowing me to capture a little piece of it.  :)
